Art Statement

I tell lost stories with found objects.
Part magpie, I repurpose and renew scavenged bits and bobs.

I gather ephemera, detritus, pre-owned and earthbound artifacts.
Some objects have been salvaged from our house fire.
Others, I’ve spied in thrift stores or recycling bins, sifted from the internet or foraged beyond the fencerow.

I prop them up, step back and survey.
The value is not always apparent, waiting days
or years
or moments
for the patina to shine.

I poke and probe at what lies fallow. I listen with cupped ear and open mind. My hands engage each item until I’ve reshaped it
and coaxed forth
the finest story never told.
Or something like that.
